A great success with thanks to our sponsors!

Such a great night at this year’s Softball Benefit Game! With so many things going on, finger printing from Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department, Pembroke Firetruck, Police cars and motorcycle. WATD and PACTV were there too! And free hamburgers and hotdogs supplied and cooked by A Fork in the Road’s Lori Cook and A Bee Tent Rental’s Jason Cook……..delicious! And we can’t forget the special appearance from Gobbles of the Plymouth Pilgrims and Blades the Bear of the Boston Bruins who put some seriously big smiles on all the children’s faces.

We did it!

This year was our 6th Annual Softball Benefit with the standings 3 (police/Fire) and 2 (Pembroke Chamber). We needed to tie this one up and we did with a monumental win over the Pembroke Police/Fire of 22-8! Way to go team!

With a great big thank you to our sponsors below. We were able to help the Pembroke Titans Against Drugs raise $1700 towards their fight against drugs. Amazing job to everyone who attended!

Pembroke Chamber Board Member Elections

On November 4th the Pembroke Chamber of Commerce will be holding elections for the 2016 Board of Directors.  Members of the Pembroke Chamber of Commerce can submit a request to run for a Board of Directors position.

The Board of Directors are Chamber members who volunteer their time serving as the governing arm of the Pembroke Chamber of Commerce. Elected by their fellow members during an annual election, Board members serve one year terms, and officers serve a 2 year term, and set the policies and procedures for the Chamber.

Board Members attend monthly Board meetings that are open to our members to attend anytime to discuss policies and set the direction for events, programs and the committee’s accomplishments, as well as setting the short and long-term goals and strategies for the Pembroke Chamber of Commerce.

The qualifications needed to run for elections are to be a business member for six months, and you must have a biography submitted prior to October 1st to gina@pembrokechamber.org. Your biography will be posted on our website for members to view prior to elections.

Announcements will be held at the Business of the Year Award dinner on November 10th.

Janet LaBerge Named Unsung Heroine of Massachusetts

Each year the Commission gathers nominations from across the state for women who make outstanding contributions to their organizations and communities. The Honorees are nominated by state legislators as a means of recognizing women for their previously unnoted yet valuable community contributions. Please join us in congratulating Janet LaBerge of Pembroke for being named a 2015 Unsung Heroine of Massachusetts! The Unsung Heroines are women who don’t make the news, but make the difference in their communities, businesses, or volunteer endeavors. The Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women will honor and celebrate the Unsung Heroines from across the Commonwealth at the 2015 Unsung Heroines Ceremony on Wednesday, June 17 at the Massachusetts State House. The event will be held in the Great Hall from 1-4 p.m. with registration opening at 11:30 a.m. The day will include a speaking program, a collective photo of all Heroines on the Grand Staircase and a Just Desserts. Congratulations Janet! And thank you to everyone who made a nomination.

Chamber Stars Fall to Police and Fire Again!

Butch Scoledge and Steve Kirby hit first inning Grand Slams and the Police and Fire stars never looked back, defeating the Pembroke Chamber of Commerce, 16-10, in their 5th Annual Softball Game. It is the second straight win in the series for the Cops and Jakes. Bill Hinchey worked on a shutout into the sixth inning. Mike Guimares and Joe Giardina led a late-arriving Chamber offense.
The real winner of the night, though, was the Chamber’s Scholarship Fund which netted close to $1000 through a 50/50 raffle and the generous sponsorships of Tiny & Sons Auto Glass, King Collision, Irrigation Repair Company, Pembroke Woods, South Shore Bank and ProtectoWire Fire Systems.
